WEA Cascade

WEA Summer U is slated for August 1‐4 in Edmonds, WA. What is Summer U? Summer U is comprised of four different colleges where WEA members can take courses for college credit, for clock hours and for sharpening skills and preparing for national certification. It is a place where members can come together in a compelling, fun and safe environment to discuss hot issues relevant to our students and members. It’s a chance to organize, mingle and let our hair down while sharing best practices and revitalizing for the coming school year.

• College of Advocacy and Strength - This is the school for WEA members who want to learn about bargaining, contract writing and other more traditional union issues as well as for those who want to hear about the latest in education reform as well as a number of other issues.
• College of Professional Practice – This college is aimed at members who are beginning their candidacy for either National Board Certification or the ProTeach Portfolio. It is for people who are renewing certification as well as for people who are steeped in special education.
• College of School Improvement - This invitation-only school is geared for those WEA members who are working in schools that have received federal School Improvement Grants.
• Presidents/Board of Directors Institute (PBODI) – This school for local presidents and WEA Board of Directors.
